Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn't my updated image showing on Facebook?

Facebook caches OG images. Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger to scrape fresh data. Enter your URL and click "Scrape Again" to force a refresh.

Do I need both OG tags and Twitter Cards?

Twitter will fall back to OG tags if Twitter-specific tags aren't present. However, for optimal display on Twitter, especially with summary_large_image cards, it's best to include both. Use our Twitter Card Checker to validate your Twitter-specific tags.

What's the difference between og:image and og:image:secure_url?

og:image is the standard image URL. og:image:secure_url is for HTTPS URLs specifically. Best practice is to use HTTPS for og:image and skip secure_url.

Should I use absolute or relative URLs for OG tags?

Always use absolute URLs (including https://) for all OG and Twitter Card properties, especially images. Relative URLs may not be resolved correctly by social platforms. Our Meta Tags Generator automatically creates properly formatted OG tags for you.
